The atmosphere at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was quite electric, for India faced New Zealand in the semifinals on Wednesday (November 15) and defeated them by 70 runs to reach their first World Cup final since 2011. Celebrities from different fields graced the event and witnessed one of the thrilling World Cup contests with India dominating from the word go. Football legend David Beckham was also present in the stadium as he arrived in India for the first time as a UNICEF ambassador.

Before the match, he met cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and played football with Virat Kohli. After the match, he met India skipper Rohit Sharma and exchanged his No.23 jersey for the No.45 Indian jersey of the ‘Hitman’. The ex-Real Madrid star took to Facebook to share the picture.

Nasser Hussain thinks Rohit Sharma changed the culture of Indian side

Virat Kohli slammed his 50th ODI century in that match, Shreyas Iyer reached his second consecutive century, while Mohammed Shami bagged his seven-wicket haul. However, former England skipper Nasser Hussain believes though the media will mostly recognize the contribution of Kohli, Iyer, and Shami in the semifinal, the credit to the player who made a great impact should be given to Rohit Sharma.

The former England skipper said Karthik had told him what Rohit wanted to do with the team, that he wanted to make bold some changes. Hussain praised Rohit for executing the changes he talked about last year.
