India captain Rohit Sharma has a habit of lighting up the mood during the press conference with his witty response to journalists. Ahead of India’s seventh group stage match of the 2023 ODI World Cup against Sri Lanka on Thursday (November 2) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rohit was at his witty best when a journalist hailed him for leading by example.

Rohit has been giving India the start they needed. He has already scored a century, two half-centuries, and two 40-plus scores. When the journalists praised him for the knocks he had been playing, Rohit said that he knows that if India play a bad game, instead of this praise, he would be heavily criticized.

Another hilarious moment during the press conference was the question about Sachin Tendulkar’s statue at the Wankhede Stadium and his quizzical look which led to laughter after he uttered:

I haven't even seen the shot yet. It's over cover, is it? Straight lofted shot, yes. Ab kya bolun? (What should I say now?)

Rohit Sharma fails against Sri Lanka

The Wankhede crowd expected a whirlwind knock from Rohit Sharma, given that it’s his home ground but the Indian captain, after starting the innings with a boundary, was bowled by Dilshan Madushanka. He could score just four runs from two balls with that lone boundary.

Prior to this poor performance, Rohit played an 87-run knock against England. His lone century came against Afghanistan where he blasted 131 runs. He even played a match-winning knock of 86 runs against arch-rivals Pakistan.
