Shreyas Iyer has had an amazing 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. He has scored 546 runs in 10 innings with an average of 75.14 with two centuries. Although he is in great form right now, many fans called for him to be dropped after a slow start in the World Cup. 

In his first 6 matches, Iyer managed to score only 134 runs with one half century against Pakistan. He had good starts, but failed to convert them into big runs, which made Indian fans unhappy. This brought in a lot of criticism, which Iyer confirmed made him really angry.

In the post-match presentation of the 1st Semi-final, where Iyer scored a marvelous 105, he revealed he was unhappy with the criticism he had during the start of the World Cup. He admitted that he got good starts, but failed to build on them. After two bad innings, people started criticizing him and saying he had a problem, which infuriated him. Iyer didn’t show his rage and promised to prove himself in the tournament.

In the pre-match press conference of the 1st semi-final, Rohit Sharma revealed that the Indian team held a fashion show as a team bonding activity. Although the Indian captain didn’t share more information regarding the show, Shreyas Iyer was more than happy to spill the beans. In the same post-match presentation, Iyer won the fashion show in terms of outfit. Despite not winning the best outfit, Shardul Thakur won the ramp walk.

India will now travel to Ahmedabad to play in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup finals. They will face the winner of the 2nd semi-final, which is being played between South Africa and Australia in the Eden Gardens. India have reached their 4th World Cup final, their first since their 2011 triumph.
