India’s seventh group stage match was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (November 3). Sachin Tendulkar was present because there was an unveiling ceremony of his statue at the stadium before the match.

After the match, the Master Blaster joined the players in the dressing room through a video to announce the name of the best fielder from that match. Notably, India have started a unique way of rewarding the fielders by giving a medal to the player who performed exceptionally well on the field. The award this time was given to Shreyas Iyer. He was visibly happy when Tendulkar announced his name and the entire team celebrated the moment.

Before announcing the name, Tendulkar recalled the 2003 World Cup where the players were asked to sign a chart that motivated them to do much better for the country. He said India captain Rohit Sharma met him and told him about the fielding medal which made him remember the 2003 World Cup.

We had one chart before the tournament started 'Can, we can'. Each player had to sign that chart before going.

Kohli missed scripting the record twice as he was dismissed for 95 and 88 runs against New Zealand and Sri Lanka. In this World Cup, he scored his 48th ODI ton, against Bangladesh.
