Rashid Khan is an unpredictable cricketer as he not only amuses the watchers of the game with his confusing spells, but when the need arises, he captivates them by making a mockery of the opponents’ bowlers. This time, he displayed his batting prowess against Australia’s Mitchell Starc in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday (November 7).
Rashid remained unbeaten on 35 runs from just 18 balls but the most stunning moment during the match came in the last over when he took Starc to the cleaners by scoring 16 runs. The Afghan star started with a boundary and followed it by a six and another six off the penultimate delivery of the last over.

Here’s the video:
Rashid scored those 35 runs from 18 balls with two boundaries and three sixes. His quickfire plus Ibrahim Zadran‘s maiden World Cup ton helped Afghanistan post 291/5 in their 50 overs.
Starc scalped one wicket, of skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi’s. He conceded 70 runs in nine overs at an economy rate of 7.78.
Afghanistan vs Australia first innings summary
After winning the toss, Afghanistan chose to field first. The openers started well, scoring 38 runs between them. After opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz‘s 21-run contribution, Rahmat Shah scored 30, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi played a slow knock of 26 runs off 43 balls, and Azmatullah Omarzai added 22 runs.

Opener Ibrahim Zadran became the first batter from Afghanistan in their history to score a century in the ODI World Cup. He remained unbeaten on 129 runs from 143 balls. He batted at a strike rate of 90.21 and his knock included eight fours and three maximums.
At the time of writing, Australia’s batting order is crumbling as five wickets fell for 70 runs within 15 overs. Afghanistan are on the verge of victory and if they win, a win over South Africa in their last group stage match will take them to the top four and they will eventually qualify for the semifinals.
