Australia’s Pat Cummins became the third pacer in the history of the ODI World Cup to captain the side and lead them to victory. The Aussies hammered India in a rather one-sided final on Sunday in Ahmedabad to clinch their sixth World Cup trophy. However, a video of the Aussie skipper at Sydney Airport after the World Cup started doing rounds on the internet.

It’s the insipid reception at the airport that surprised the Indian and Pakistani fans. Fans shared the video on X and started commenting how only a few journalists clicked his pictures and that there was no excitement among regular passengers.

Some fans said the fans in Australia are so used to the World Cup that they stopped paying more heed to the team’s winning the tournament. An Indian fan hilariously commented that in India more people gather around a JCB to see how it works.

Pat Cummins said remembering that they won the World Cup excites them always

Upon his arrival, Pat Cummins said the excitement after winning the World Cup has not lessened a bit among the team, especially after winning the tournament in India. He also recalled the victory at the World Test Championship (WTC) Final and the away Ashes series that have made this year memorable for him and his team.

I think we'll be smiling for a fair while. We are still buzzing. Every half an hour or so, you kind of remember that you just won a World Cup and get excited all over again.
Cummins said at the Sydney Airport.

He added:

You only get one chance every four years and especially playing somewhere in India, it's hard.

The 30-year-old had an ordinary World Cup campaign in terms of his bowling but in the final, he scalped two important wickets, one of whom was Virat Kohli. Cummins also played a memorable knock of a 68-ball 12* runs while batting alongside Glenn Maxwell whose whirlwind of a double century snatched victory from Afghanistan.
