Over a billion Indians are nervous as the Indian Cricket Team faces New Zealand in the first semi-final. The last time they faced each other in the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup semi-final, many had their heart broken as they failed to reach yet another final. Despite so many worried fans, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma looks very calm before the match, once again cracking jokes in the pre-match press conference. 

Rohit Sharma was asked by a journalist if the team prepares while remembering past results in mind, such as the 2021 World Test Championship and 2019 World Cup semi-final. Rohit explained that the team has always paid attention to the game in front of them and never the past, while also referencing previous World Cup triumphs.

That's the beauty of this team. We weren't even born when we won the World Cup in 1983. Half of them were not playing when we won in 2011. I don't see them talking about how we won our previous World Cups. The focus is on how we can get better and how we can improve. That's the beauty of the current crop of players. From game number one, the focus is on to win today,

India have not had a good head-to-head record with the Kiwis. Since 2003, India have lost the majority of clashes with New Zealand in ICC events until they finally beat them in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup.

In the same press conference, Rohit Sharma talked about how important the team’s environment should be. He explained how the team tried to maintain a positive environment throughout the tournament and talked about the various things the team did.

After India’s win against New Zealand in Dharamshala, the team stayed in the city for a couple of days. Rohit revealed the team did a lot of activities, including conducting a fashion show. He also exclaimed how happy he was that no one knew about it.
