On 22nd October, New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell scored his 5th ODI ton in the Kiwi’s fixture against India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The 32-year-old scored his century in 100 balls and put up 130 runs on the board.

Coming in to bat at 19/2 in the 9th over, Daryll Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra built an impressive partnership of 159. He and Rachin ensured they stabilized the innings after losing both their openers early. Thanks to a poor fielding display by India that saw Mitchell get dropped by KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav, he took full advantage of the drops. While wickets were falling from the opposite end, Mitchell ensured he stayed to finish the New Zealand innings on a high.

After Ravindra departed, Latham came in to bat but lasted only 7 balls. Glenn Philipps put up 23 runs before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav. Just a few overs later, Jasprit Bumrah sent Mark Chapman back to the dressing room.

Mohammad Shami, who was playing his first game of the World Cup, picked up the last 3 Kiwi wickets and also got his first World Cup five wicket haul. New Zealand put up a target of 274 for India to chase down. So far, both India and New Zealand have been unbeaten in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup
