“Best revenge”- David Warner and Rovman Powell shine as Delhi slam SRH to gain crucial points
DC players
With a blistering batting from David Warner and Rovman Powell, Delhi Capitals thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs on Thursday, May 5 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. With this win, DC reached the fifth place while SRH are standing just below Delhi.
Knowing that without power hitting from all the batsmen, it will be impossible to chase a huge target of 208, SRH batsmen Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran did their best to drag their innings to the total but at the end DC bowlers had the last laugh by dismissing both.
On the last ball of the 13th over, Khaleel Ahmed bowled a slower length ball which was also wider outside off. Markram looked to go big but miscued it a bit and the ball went towards long-off to give a simple catch to Kuldeep Yadav. Markram walked back after a brilliant 42 off 25 with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Ahmed also picked most wickets (3) for DC in this match.
It was a day for the Caribbean batsmen. Rovman Powell at one side awed all with his power hitting for DC, on the other side Nicholas Pooran scored much to chase the huge one.
Nicolas Pooran scored 62 off 34 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes. But on the 18th over, a full toss by Shardul Thakur sent back Pooran. Pooran pulled the ball but it had gone off the top edge high towards long on. Rovman Powell ran forward and grabbed it.
