David Warner BREAKS Sachin Tendulkar’s massive century record after brilliant knock against South Africa

David Warner reached a massive landmark on Saturday (September 9) during Australia’s match against South Africa at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Warner broke the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries scored in international cricket as an opener.
Tendulkar used to top the list with 45 centuries to his name. Warner, during Australia’s second ODI, played a knock of 93-ball 106 runs. During the knock, he smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes and batted at a strike rate of 113.98.
Meanwhile, Caribbean legend Chris Gayle stands third on the list with 42 tons, while Sri Lanka great Sanath Jayasuriya occupies the fourth spot. Matthew Hayden and Rohit Sharma have scored 40 and 39 centuries as openers respectively and stand in fourth and fifth places.
Australia versus South Africa match so far

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Australia, after David Warner’s 106 off 93 and Marnus Labuschagne’s 99-ball 124 reached a huge 392/8 in 50 overs. Apart from these two, Travis Head and Josh Inglis contributed 64 and 50 runs respectively.
Tabraiz Shamsi scalped four wickets, Kagiso Rabada bagged two, while Marco Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo picked up one wicket each. South Africa started their run chase and crossed the 100-run mark before 20 overs for the loss of four wickets.
In the five-match ODI series, Australia are leading by 1-0 after they secured the win in the first match by three wickets. The next ODI is on Tuesday (September 12).
