David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and Yash Dhull’s bats and other cricketing equipment stolen from kit bag in transit
The items which have been stolen include sixteen bats, pads, shoes, thigh-pads and gloves.
In a bizarre incident, Delhi Capitals players have lost a handful of their cricketing equipment ranging from bats to gloves and shoes. The players who have lost these items include DC captain David Warner, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, Phil Salt and Yash Dhull. The incident occurred when the players flew from Bangalore to Delhi after playing in the DC’s league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The items which have been stolen include sixteen bats, pads, shoes, thigh-pads and gloves. Among the bats stolen from the players’ kit bags three belong to skipper David Warner, two to all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, three to wicketkeeper-batsman Phil Salt, and five to youngster Yash Dhull.
“All of them were shocked when they heard that everyone had lost something or the other from their kit bags. This is the first time such an incident has happened and the matter was soon raised to the logistics department, police and later at the airport. The investigation is on,” a source in Delhi Capitals was quoted saying by The Indian Express.
The players got to know about the missing items when their kit bags reached them at the team hotel. The matter then reached the franchise officials, who lodged a complaint about mass stealing from their kit bags.

Notably, the IPL franchise hires a logistics company which ensures that team kit bags and big luggage are flown in advance to the next destination. The players keep their kit bags outside their respective rooms after a match and the logistics company takes care of the rest. The players receive their kit bags outside their rooms at the venue they have travelled to.
It’s getting bad to worse for Delhi
With cricketing gears getting stolen in bulk, DC players might be frustrated after a shabby start to the tournament. DC have lost all their five matches played so far. The David Warner-led side is due to face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday. Although the players managed to take part in the practice session, they are yet to get new equipment.
Most important among all is the bat which costs around a lakh rupees each (for foreign players). All the aforementioned players have requested their bat companies to send a few of them before the next game.
