Australia were dealt with a might blow, as David Warner has been subbed out of the second Test due to concussion. The left-handed batter has also suffered a small hairline fracture on his left elbow after being on the receiving end of a couple of blows in the first innings.
David Warner was struck on the helmet by Mohammed Siraj towards the end of the 10th over. The veteran was dismissed for 15 runs after spending close to an hour out in the middle. After an assessment which was conducted on the conclusion of the first day of the second Test, it was revealed that David Warner suffered from concussion.
The Australian batter complained of some discomfort after being struck on the helmet by Mohammed Siraj, as medical tests confirmed the diagnosis. Matt Renshaw will replace David Warner in the Australian lineup for the second innings, as the all-rounder is expected to slot into the middle-order once again.

David Warner also suffered a hairline fracture on his left elbow
David Warner was also struck on the elbow off a bouncer from Mohammed Siraj. He received treatment from the medical team, but was quite a bit of discomfort. He continued to bat with some strapping on his below, before being dismissed for 15 runs.
This puts David Warner’s involvement in the rest of the tour in serious doubt, as the elbow injury could take as many as six weeks to heal. Shedding some light on his concussion, Cricket Australia stated: “Warner will now follow the graduated return to sport protocols ahead of the third Test in Indore in line with Cricket Australia guidelines.”
Matt Renshaw was part of the playing 11 against India in the Nagpur Test, but was left out of the squad for the second Test to make way for Travis Head. However, selector Tony Dodemaide backed the all-rounder, and clarified that he was not dropped from the team for his under-par performances in Nagpur.
“He’s very much a valued player in our team planning moving forward. He was quite stiff, particularly in the first innings [in Nagpur]. So he hasn’t been dropped for those performances,” said Tony Dodemaide.
