Australia batter David Warner who was once a force to reckon is struggling to put together a good performance, especially in red-ball cricket. The southpaw is a part of the ongoing Ashes series but how long will he continue to represent Australia in the longest format, nothing can be said about that. Warner might even retire or might be asked to retire after the Ashes series.
Amid all these speculations, his wife’s latest social media post has cast a big doubt on Warner’s Test cricket future. As David Warner was dismissed cheaply in both innings of the third Ashes Test, his wife put up a post on social media with a caption that has left everyone speculating over Warner’s retirement from Test cricket.
As Australia lost the third Test, Candice Warner shared a picture of the Warner family wherein the Aussie batter and her three daughters were present. She then wrote an interesting caption. “The end of an era for us touring with test cricket, it’s been fun. Forever your biggest supporters and your girl gang. Love you @davidwarner31,” wrote Candice.
This post has left fans wondering if the 36-year-old will be hanging his boots from Test cricket. “Did you really retired @davidwarner31?” questioned one user in the comment box. “Good luck on retirement mate! fair play to announce it Matt Renshaw has his chance at Old Trafford then!” wrote another.
David Warner certain to sit out of fourth Ashes Test
While there are still doubts over David Warner’s Test retirement, the Aussie batter is certain to sit out of the fourth Ashes Test. With neither form nor age on his side, Warner might make way for a younger player as Australia look to claim the series in Manchester.
Australia have a big selection headache with Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh both fit and in-form. Although Green missed out on the third Test with a minor strain, the all-rounder is expected to be fit in time before the fourth Test commences. Marsh, on the other hand, has cemented his place on the back of a fabulous century.
In such a scenario, David Warner will have to sit out and Travis Head might be moved up the order with Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green batting in the middle order.
