David Warner‘s wife Candice Warner made a shocking claim that someone within Cricket Australia asked her to keep her mouth shut which irked her and Warner also after the infamous ball-tampering saga in 2018. Candice criticized CA for their lack of support for Warner who was left to fend for himself.
Candice revealed that though the people close to her supported her, she and her family received no help from the Australian cricketing body. After the incident, Candice developed only bitter feelings against CA because she felt her family was thought of as a washing machine. “You’re just rinsed out, recycled, next player comes in,” Candice said on the Matty Johns Podcast.
“I was told by someone within Cricket Australia at the time within the team that it’s in the team’s best interest to keep your mouth shut. That fired me up, and David up…we have so much respect for the team, but we’re also human beings,” she added.

The ball-tampering saga will continue to haunt David Warner?
After that infamous saga during the four-match Test series in South Africa, Warner, and the then-captain Steve Smith was banned for a year, while Cameron Bancroft was suspended for nine months. Warner and Smith then made a comeback in 2019 for the Ashes and ODI World Cup.
Warner had requested CA to remove the lifetime leadership ban imposed on him by the cricketing body. But a couple of months ago, he withdrew his appeal against the ban, meaning he cannot captain Australia again.
Warner is currently leading Delhi Capitals due to the absence of regular skipper Rishabh Pant. DC have won two matches from the seven matches they have played so far.
