Delhi Capitals’s scheduled travel to Pune today has been cancelled because they have been hit by a Covid outbreak. The players and staff will remain quarantined in the rooms with door-to-door tests.

It was team’s physio Patrick Farhart who had been tested positive earlier. But now a player and a team masseur have also tested positive. But there has been speculation that Delhi Capitals’ match will be rescheduled against Punjab Kings on Wednesday. Delhi Capitals is to play back-to-back games in Pune, one against Punjab Kings on April 20 and Rajasthan Royals on April 22.

“DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart,” a BCCI source had said earlier.

“All teams are staying at Conrad Hotel in Pune where BCCI has created a bio-bubble. They were supposed to travel but now it has been delayed. Obviously, all those whose results would be negative would carry on with onward journey tomorrow,” the source added.

Under the BCCI guidelines, it is mentioned that “The BCCI, at its discretion, will attempt to reschedule the match for later in the season. If this is not possible, the issue will be refereed to the IPL Technical Committee. The decision will be final and binding.”

“We have not heard of any change in the programme and the situation in the Delhi camp is manageable right now,” said many sources.

As Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has tested negative in RT-PCR test after returning a positive Rapid Antigen Test. This would have mean that the match between DC and PBKS will go on as scheduled.

“Mitchell Marsh’s RT-PCR report is supposed to be conclusive evidence and all other members have also tested negative in RT-PCR tests. There is no threat to Wednesday’s match between DC and PBKS,” said a senior BCCI official to PTI on Monday.

But recent report mentioned that Mitchell Marsh has tested positive with CT value of 17 and he will be hospitalized. Delhi Capitals will wait for more tests tomorrow before taking a call on their match against PBKS.
