The ICC released the 2023 ODI World Cup schedule naming 10 venues for the same. One of them is the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi which is set to host five matches across the tournament. Only one match is scheduled for India at the venue where they play Afghanistan on 11th October.

Rajan Manchanda, the joint secretary of the DDCA has announced that the stadium is set to go under renovation ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup and it will cost the association a whopping 20-25 crore rupees. A GAP assessment conducted by BCCI, which identifies the gap between the existing and ideal state, emphasized the need for renovation.

After receiving multiple complaints from fans about the hygiene and infrastructure of the stadium, the DDCA has finally decided to renovate it ahead of the mega tournament set to begin in October this year.

Rajan Manchanda said, “We need to improve the stadium infrastructure to make it a pleasant experience for the fans and will be focused on that ahead of the mega event.” Talking about the renovations of the stadium, he said, “Our aim is to provide clean washrooms and hygienic food and water at a reasonable price to our fans. The strength of the housekeeping staff will also be increased.”

The seats in the stadium are set to be replaced and a new coat of paint is to be applied on the stadium walls. The ticketing software is also set to go under change to ensure a smoother process. The DDCA aims to complete the renovation and get the stadium ready by 15th September.

The World Cup is set to begin on 5th October at Ahmedabad with a day-night game between England and New Zealand.
