Chennai Super Kings set a target of 150 in 20 overs to Rajasthan Royals on Friday, May 20 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Talking about the match, CSK has won the toss and opted to bat first but this decision proved a little wrong for them as they failed to add runs faster on the score board after the power-play.

In the power play, the pair of Moeen Ali and Devon Conway‘s partnership made it looked for a big total. But after Conway’s wicket, even Moeen Ali’s bat slowly became silent. Conway had scored 16 runs off 14 balls with one four and one six. But a ball from Ravichandran Ashwin sent him back for an LBW.

Narayan Jagadeesan and Ambati Rayudu scored 1 run and 3 runs respectively. Then came MS Dhoni who scored 26 off 28 balls with a four and a six. Score really didn’t coming so both the batsmen then went for huge hits.

In the last ball of the 19th over, Yuzvendra Chahal tossed a ball full and outside off with the ball turning away. MS Dhoni attempted to fetch it and drag it towards the mid-wicket fence but he only managed to get the toe end on it. The ball went to the sky before Jos Buttler grabbed it safely at the wide long fence.

Moeen Ali would have scored his century had not Obed McCoy didn’t send him back. Dot balls created pressure and Moeen Ali had gone for a huge hit. This happened right after MD Dhoni’s wicket. In the 1st ball of the penultimate over, McCoy bowled a slower delivery and Moeen Ali hanged deep and just looked to swing through the line. Moeen Ali ended up hitting it straight down the throat of Riyan Parag at long off and Parag doesn’t drop these catches. Ali departed after scoring 93 off 57 balls with 13 fours and 3 sixes.

He even smashed 26 in one over off Trent Boult. In the first ball itself, he went for a six, followed by 5 back to back fours. He scored second fastest fifty for CSK with just 19 balls. First place belongs to Suresh Raina who had scored in just 16 balls.
