India is a formidable team and they will be arriving at the forthcoming 2023 ODI World Cup as a heavy favorite to win, feels 2019 ODI World Cup-winning former England skipper Eoin Morgan. The World Cup will be played in India and Morgan feels like in 2011, he can see India potentially lift the World Cup.
Morgan talked about home advantage and how all three previous World Cup winners lifted the trophy on home soil. He feels players should pick the brains of those who got the taste of victory by playing in the 2011 World Cup, like Virat Kohli.
“They’re an excellent cricket team that I believe will be favorites going into the World Cup. You don’t have to rewind the clock back that far when MS Dhoni was captain back in 2011, and that magical moment for all Indian fans when he hit that ball over long-on for six, and India lifted the trophy,” Morgan said in an interview with WION.

Why do most of the Indians doubt Team India’s chances of lifting the ODI World Cup on home soil?
There are multiple reasons but the first is the injuries of star players. Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah recovered from surgery on his back stress fracture and will lead Team India for the Ireland series. That series will also decide whether Bumrah is fully capable of bowling without injuring himself again.
India captain Rohit Sharma’s form is also under scanner because he has not been consistent enough in the previous matches he has played. Indian management is still contemplating whom to give the No. 4 position.
Suryakumar Yadav has been tried several times at No. 4 but could get no satisfactory result. Shreyas Iyer, who would have come to bat in that position, is dealing with a back injury. India all-rounder Hardik Pandya scores in one match and fails in another. India still searching for someone who can finish well.
