“Dhamakedaar ek run banaya”- Fans brutally troll Virat Kohli after he failed yet again in 2nd T20I vs Eng
Richard Gleeshan and Virat Kohli
It’s too early to remark but Virat Kohli’s lean patch has become an important concern for Team India. He failed yet again when he took a long walk back to the dressing room after scoring just one run in off three balls off debutant Richard Gleeshan in the 2nd T20I at Edgbaston against England.
Gleeshan, in his first ball of his second over hit the length with delivery outside off-stump. Kohli went after it to score a big hit but top-edged it and Dawid Malan behind backward point caught it with a terrific diving.
Kohli’s one run further increased the criticism. Some had said that he should be dropped while some expressed their wonder if the former skipper was ‘finished’. He had scored 11 and 20 runs in the rescheduled fifth Test against the same team; was rested from the first T20I in Southampton and Deepak Hooda replaced him. Hooda had contributed 33 runs off 17 balls in the first match and also he scored a stunning century against Ireland.
When Kohli took to Twitter to share about the third T20, fans trolled him and asked him why he is so ‘excited’ for the third T20I when he scored just one run in the 2nd T20I. Things are getting bad to worse for the 33-year-old. It will be interesting to see how Kohli’s approach will be in the third T20I will take place today, Sunday, July 10.
Meanwhile, when India was asked to bat first, Ravindra Jadeja’s knock of 46* and Rohit Sharma’s 31 helped India reach 170 runs. India started well with playing aggressive cricket but saw losing quick wickets after the dismissal of Rohit and Rishabh Pant before Jadeja rescued the team with his innings.
England got bowled out after scoring just 121 runs with Jasprit Bumrah scalping three wickets and Bhuvneshwar Kumar completing his four-wicket haul. Bumrah had also created a new world record by becoming the first bowler to bowl nine maiden overs in the history of T20I cricket.
