India were thrashed by Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final by a massive 209 runs and it was another ICC Final horror for the Men in Blue. Indian cricket team fans’ dream to see their team lift an ICC title remains unfulfilled and no one knows when the ICC Knockout jinx will be broken.
More than the fans, the players were dejected. While Rohit Sharma expressed his disappointment in the post-match press conference, star batter Virat Kohli wore a deserted look on his face after the defeat. Some fans have also claimed that Kohli cried post the humiliating defeat.
Kohli was captured with teary eyes in one of the many pictures which showed the mood in the Indian camp. The former India captain, who had high hopes for himself before the Ultimate Test began, was supposedly left wondering about the reasons for India’s defeat. During those moments, Kohli was captured with grief in his eyes.
However, a few fans felt that the 34-year-old was only rubbing his nose and was not crying.

What lies ahead for Virat Kohli?

The star batter received a lot of flak for the shot he played again Scott Boland and which resulted in his dismissal in the second innings. Kohli’s wicket triggered a collapse and India were bowled out for 234 after starting Day 5 at 164/3. The cries for his removal from the Test squad are also getting louder with his batting numbers deteriorating further.
However, the Indian team management has not made any claims of an overhaul in the Test setup and Kohli might keep the No.4 position to himself. The two players who can face the axe in the longest format are Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav. The two red-ball specialists are expected to lose their places to Yashaswi Jaiswal and Mukesh Kumar respectively.
