India batter Shubman Gill, who was expected to play a fabulous knock against Pakistan, failed to produce one. Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf produced a brilliant delivery to castle Gill and disappointed the Indian fans on Saturday (September 2) during the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

After the dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer, it was time for Gill to follow them to the dugout. In the 15th over, Rauf delivered a fuller length delivery which Gill tried to defend but missed the ball and it smashed into the stumps.

Gill scored just 10 runs after eating away 32 balls with one boundary at a strike rate of 31.25. Before Gill, Rauf got rid of No. 4 batter Shreyas Iyer with a fierce delivery which also broke Iyer’s bat.

Meanwhile, India have reached a comfortable position by crossing 200 in 39 overs. After dismissing Shubman Gill, Haris Rauf broke the long-standing partnership of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya by dismissing the former with the help of skipper Babar Azam‘s catch. Kishan scored a brilliant 82 off 81 under intense pressure, while Pandya is still batting (68* off 77 at the time of writing this article) with new batter Ravindra Jadeja (3* off seven deliveries).
