Rajasthan Royals (RR) Riyan Parag find one or the other way to fall cheaply in every game he plays. It has been an eternity since Parag dished out an impactful performance for his team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). While Parag was scoring occasional 30s in previous editions, the Assam batter has failed to even do that in IPL 2023. 

Parag’s highest score this season stands at 20. After a string of poor performances, the RR management decided to drop the batter. However, for some reason, Parag got another chance as an Impact Player in Rajasthan’s match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday. But he failed to make a contribution, yet again.

Riyan Parag was dismissed for 4 off 6 balls by Rashid Khan. The batter was trapped LBW as Parag failed to read a googly from one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. With Parag falling cheaply yet again and failing to live up to the expectations of the team management, fans lambasted the youngster on Twitter.

Although Riyan Parag was the soft target for the fans, other RR batters did not impress either. Other than Yashaswi Jaiswal (14 off 11), Devdutt Padikkal (12 off 12), and Sanju Samson (30 off 20) only Trent Boult (15 off 11) got to double digits. The rest of the batters looked clueless against the GT spin duo of Rashid Khan (3/14) and Noor Ahmad (2/25).

The last year’s runners-up suffered a horrific collapse as RR were reduced to 96/8 from 60/3 at one stage. It was Trent Boult’s resistance at the end that helped them cross the 100-run mark.
