Early weather forecast paints a gloomy picture as fate of India vs Pakistan fixture is at mercy of ‘Rain Gods’

Cricketing fans all over the globe hold their breath as the T20I World Cup is just a couple of days away from entering its eight edition. One of the fixtures that is always on every fan’s calendar is the clash between the Asian heavyweights, India and Pakistan. The arch-rivals are all set to lock horns against each other in just the Day 2 of the Super 12 stage, setting the tone of the tournament.

However, there is a huge concern for all cricketing fans around the world. The fate of the India vs Pakistan fixture is still uncertain it has been raining relentlessly in some parts of Australia this week. A couple of warm-up games were called off because of the same, which includes the fixture between India and New Zealand.

The two Asian giants will battle it out at the iconic MCG stadium in Melbourne. The rain forecast does not look ideal, as there is a probability of 80% on Sunday, with showers expected almost all through the day.

India vs Pakistan to set the tone for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup

The hosts, Australia kick off their campaign against neighbors New Zealand on the opening day, whereas, England also take the center stage on Saturday. However, in all honesty, it is the Indo-Pak battle which sets the tone for almost every ICC event.

Hence, given the buzz and the standing the fixture has in the sport, fans would hope that the weather clears up by the weekend, and we can witness a full 40-over game.

Talking about India’s preparation in lead up to the World Cup, the Men in Blue defeated hosts Australia in the first warm-up game, whereas, the second game was unfortunately abandoned due to rain. Meanwhile, Pakistan were handed a six-wicket defeat in their first warm-up game by England. Similar to their Sunday opponents, their second practice game against Afghanistan was washed out.
