Home team India has come out all guns blazing in the 2023 edition 2023 ODI World Cup. They have fired on all cylinders since the first match against Australia and have been on a roll since then. They hammered Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Their fifth win over New Zealand was the most special because it was their first victory over the Kiwis in an ICC event after 20 long years.

After five consecutive wins, their next assignment is against defending champions England on October 29 at the Ekana Sports City in Lucknow. Ahead of the match, former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram issued a stern warning for Rohit Sharma and company.

Akram said England are the wounded lions and they may change their approach and play differently in front of India. “India are favorites to win against England, but England are wounded lions,” Akram told Sportskeeda.

“They will know that they have to win and that could see them approach the game differently. However, India have played with controlled aggression,” he added.

The defending champions started their campaign in the World Cup with a loss to last edition’s runners-up New Zealand. After beating Bangladesh, they went on to lose two consecutive matches, against Afghanistan and South Africa.

Wasim Akram uses casteist slur to criticize Pakistani players

Wasim Akram was furious after Pakistan’s humiliating loss to Afghanistan in Chennai. On live television, while criticizing Babar Azam and company, he used the casteist slur “Cha*ar”.
