England’s fast bowling ace Jofra Archer is making quick progress and it looks like the pacer will be fit before the ODI World Cup begins in October. Archer’s club Sussex’s coach Paul Fabrace has come up with a major update on the pacer’s recovery. He has claimed that the pacer is going well and looks set to represent England at the World Cup.
Jofra Archer was a part of the squad when England lifted their maiden ODI World Cup in 2019. In fact, Archer had played a crucial role in the Three Lions’ victory. Now, as England get ready to defend their crown in India later this year, Archer will hope to make it into the squad.
“He’s going well. I think he is on course for the World Cup which is fantastic news,” Farbrace told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He is going nicely. I think England will need to work out how to get the best out of him over the next few years if he is to go to that next Ashes series.”
Jofra Archer’s injury-ridden journey
The England pacer is considered among the deadliest fast bowlers going around the world for the pace and bounce Jofra Archer generates. However, ever since making his debut in 2019, Archer has had troubles due to injuries, especially with his elbow. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, Archer has been unable to fully recuperate.
The last time the 28-year-old took the field was in May during IPL 2023 when Archer played for the Mumbai Indians. But it was not a fruitful outing as Archer had to leave the tournament midway after he encountered problems with his elbow.
Now, after undergoing another surgery, Archer is ready to play for England, as his club coach claims. But England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be really cautious in taking a call considering Archer’s recurring injury.
