The scarcity of matches between and Pakistan has led to tremendous excitement among cricket fans, especially those who belong to these two countries. Due to intense political strain, India and Pakistan meet only in ICC events and the Asia Cup. It won’t be wrong to say that no player of the sides, including former India captain MS Dhoni, is immune to the pressure the face-off creates.
Former India coach Sanjay Bangar revealed an unheard story about Dhoni who got injured before the Asia Cup match between the two rivals in 2016. He picked up the injury during a gym session but despite that, he insisted on leading the side in that blockbuster clash.
Bangar said that Dhoni was not able to move and run after suffering that injury. To make himself fit, he did everything he could and eventually led the Men in Blue to a memorable five-wicket victory.
“Actions speak louder than words. It was no way possible that MS (Dhoni) could’ve played through the Asia Cup and the match against Pakistan. He wasn’t able to move sideways, he wasn’t able to run. Despite that, he wanted to show that he was there for the team. He ran the park. He did everything he could. A lot of it is unsaid, players know the importance of this game,” Bangar said on Star Sports.
MS Dhoni spotted signing autographs for fans in the US
Everyone is aware of the aura MS Dhoni carries with him everywhere he goes. The cricket-playing nations know Dhoni’s contribution to the game which is why, despite his retirement from international cricket, he is a highly popular figure.
Dhoni is currently in the US right now. He was first spotted watching the quarter-final match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev in the 2023 US Open. Later, to the great surprise of the fans, he played golf with former US President Donald Trump.
Now a video has surfaced on social media platforms. Dhoni was spotted giving his autograph to a fan in the USA and it has now gone viral.
