After India’s ordinary performance in the Boxing Day Test match against South Africa, as they lost the match by an innings and 32 runs, former India cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath criticized captain Rohit Sharma. Badrinath unleashed his anger by comparing Rohit with Virat Kohli who captained the team before.
India played in South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. This defeat was their fourth consecutive defeat in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries. Badrinath called Kohli a big player than Rohit in Test cricket.

Why is Virat not the captain of the Test team? I want to raise this valid question. He is a better Test batter. There is no comparison between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He is a big player in terms of Test cricket. Why is he not leading and a weaker player? As far as I am concerned, a weaker player is one who has not yet proven as an opener.Badrinath said on his YouTube channel
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s Test stats as captains
Virat Kohli has an impressive Test record as captain because he led India in 68 Tests, with 40 wins, 17 defeats, and 11 draws. As a captain, his batting records are also decent because, at an average of 53.40, he scored 5,608 runs with 18 centuries and 18 fifties. Also, India used to remain on top of the ICC rankings in Tests for multiple years.

Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, has scored 3,682 runs in 53 Tests from 90 innings at an average of 45.45 with 10 centuries and 16 fifties. But he has not performed impressively in the SENA nations, for he scored 1,182 runs from 21 Tests at an average of 30.30 with a ton and six half-centuries.
India will play their first match of 2024 on January 3 against South Africa again, the second and last Test match of the series. As they lost the first match, they have again lost the chance to win a series on African soil.
