“You are digging a hole for yourselves,” ex-India cricketer says India has made a MISTAKE not picking Sanju Samson

Aakash Chopra on his show, AakashVani, has said India have made a huge mistake not picking Sanju Samson in the Asia Cup squad. KL Rahul will not be playing the first matches of the Asia Cup, as confirmed by head coach Rahul Dravid.

Aakash Chopra was unhappy with Sanju Samson getting dropped from the squad, saying this isn’t the right thing to do. He further added, ”You wouldn’t have had to change the other things but when you don’t do that, and have one keeper as a middle-order batter and the other as an opener, you are digging a hole for yourselves, and you will fall into it sometime or the other, and it is now time to fall into it.”

With KL Rahul out, India have only fit keeper in the squad remaining is Ishan Kishan. Sanju Samson has been kept on standby, with Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma being selected ahead of him. This means Ishan Kishan will have to play Pakistan on the 2nd September in Kandy.

With Kishan being a top order batsman, there are plenty of fans and pundits like AB de Villiers say that Virat Kohli should bat at No. 4 so that the left hander can be accommodated at the top order. Others think Kohli should stick with his regular spot and let him bat at no. 5. Kishan has never batted at 5. In the 16 innings he has batted, 6 have come in at opening and No. 6, while he has batted at No. 3 only 4 times.
