“Couldn’t prove even once,” ex-India pacer condemns Dinesh Karthik for flop show in IPL
Owing to his poor show this season, former India pacer Irfan Pathan pointed out that as Karthik failed to prove even once in all the matches he has played, RCB has to find a solution.

Dinesh Karthik
Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s (RCB) openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis are doing the bulk of the scoring, and in a couple of matches, even all-rounder Glenn Maxwell provided the team with handy runs and played scintillating innings. But the middle order looks inexperienced and RCB are yet to find someone who can finish the innings despite having veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik in the team.
Karthik, this season, could score just 99 runs from the nine matches RCB played this season, with the highest score of 28 runs. Owing to his poor show this season, former India pacer Irfan Pathan pointed out that as Karthik failed to prove even once in all the matches he has played, RCB has to find a solution.
“RCB will have to find a solution that if KGF (Kojli, Glenn, Faf) do not work then who will steer the team through troubled waters? Whether Dinesh Karthik or Mahipal Lomror,” Pathan said on Star Sports.
“RCB’s middle order looks very weak. Karthik could not prove even once in the last eight matches that the team can rely on him for big scores or during chases. RCB management will have to fix this loophole in their batting,” Pathan added.

Dinesh Karthik stunned everyone last year

Though Karthik’s rough patch this season is exposed, last year was completely different for him. He improved a lot on his batting and stunned everyone with his blitzkrieg. Even the selectors couldn’t ignore him and included him in the squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup. But he had a torrid run in the tournament and eventually dropped from matches.
That form continued in RCB matches too, and recently, he completed an unwanted record in IPL. He became the victim of most run-outs (41) in the cash-rich league. In RCB’s last match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the 37-year-old got involved in his 41st run-out.
