Former India player Mohammad Kaif believes India without tearaway pacer Jasprit Bumrah will look weak. Bumrah is all set to make his comeback to competitive cricket after a gap of nearly one year.
The 29-year-old will be captaining the T20I series against Ireland and this series may prove whether Bumrah has fully recovered. He suffered from a back stress fracture and underwent surgery in New Zealand this year. Since then, he has been at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.
The big tournaments he missed are the T20 World Cup last year, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series this year, Indian Premier League (IPL), and the World Test Championship. If everything goes right in the Ireland series, Bumrah will be playing in the Asia Cup.
There is no doubt how regular skipper Rohit Sharma missed Bumrah’s services in all the important tournaments India played. And as this big asset is making a comeback, India sighed a huge relief, and it also lessened the pressure on Rohit a bit.
Mohammad Kaif thinks Men in Blue with Jasprit Bumrah will make the team strong

Mohammad Kaid believes if Bumrah is fit again, then India will be a formidable side on home soil. India are set to play their first match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
“The biggest factor is Bumrah. If he does not make a comeback then India will have to work harder. We still do not have Bumrah’s backup. If Bumrah does not play then we can use it. We will have problems before World Cup,” Kaif told reporters on the sidelines of Pitchside- My Life in Indian Cricket book launch.
He warned the management of serious consequences if Bumrah injures himself again, saying there’s still not a player who can be called Bumrah’s backup. It’s also worth noting that in the absence of Bumrah, the two pacers, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, handled the responsibilities with the new ball and during the death overs brilliantly.
