“Small example of CSK without Dhoni,” ex-India player says MS Dhoni-less CSK will struggle in IPL by citing last year’s horrible campaign
Apart from pointing out how CSK may fumble without MS Dhoni, RP Singh also praised the Ranchi-born batsman for his ability to use limited resources properly.
MS Dhoni
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a below-par season last year. MS Dhoni quit captaincy a couple of days before the start of the 15th edition Indian Premier League (IPL) after which Ravindra Jadeja was handed the role which saw the four-time champions facing defeats one after the other. Former India player RP Singh pointed out that the 2022 year was just a glimpse of CSK when MS Dhoni is not captaining.
Jadeja relinquished the leadership duty, which saw Thala handling it again and continued the same this year also. After a defeat in their campaign opener against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT), CSK did not suffer the way they did last year. They are playing brilliantly and have racked up five wins from 10 matches, standing third on the points table.
MS Dhoni, who has worked a lot on his fitness before this edition of IPL, has been in stunning form, for whenever his turns come up, he performs the duty of a finisher, adding quick runs despite coming to bat at lower down the order.
RP Singh says MS Dhoni uses his resources very well
Apart from pointing out how CSK may fumble without MS Dhoni, RP Singh also praised the Ranchi-born batsman for his ability to use limited resources properly. CSK’s camp has injury issues as key players, the likes of Ben Stokes, Deepak Chahar, and Mukesh Chowdhury got injured and are currently out of action. RP Singh said despite the injuries, Dhoni has still maintained his recourses very well.
“We got to know what happens to CSK if he is not there last when he quit captaincy ahead of the season. That was a small example of CSK playing without Dhoni as the leader It will be difficult for CSK to not have him in the playing 11. CSK will go through the transition phase for some time when Dhoni goes,” Singh told Zee News.
