Former Pakistan player Moin Khan accused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of ignoring pacer Naseem Shah‘s injury despite his raising concerns about the same before the ODI World Cup. Khan said the medical team did not take Naseem’s concerns seriously and as a result, the 20-year-old suffered a major injury during the 2023 Asia Cup which eventually ruled him out of the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Moin Khan pointed out that when a player is complaining about niggle, then he is not wishing to get dropped. He urged the PCB to take the concerns of the players if someone is complaining about the injury.

Naseem’s injury is a disaster for Pakistan’s team medical panel and physiotherapist. He has been constantly complaining that he has been having problems for three to four months yet they were continuously playing him. A player would always wish to not get dropped but when he is telling you about his injury, you have to take it very seriously. The medical panel didn’t take it seriously. This was a recipe for disaster,” Moin told Cricket Pakistan.

The PCB announced a 15-member squad for the World Cup where veteran pacer Hasan Ali replaced Naseem. Moin Khan believes that Hasan Ali is the best replacement for Naseem.
