Riyan Parag had failed to make his mark in the IPL ever since his debut in 2019. Since then, he has played in each season with Rajasthan Royals backing him despite his terrible form. Ending up becoming one of the most hated cricketers in the IPL, many thought the youngster would not be able to perform at the highest level. 

With terrific performances for Assam across all formats, the 22-year-old was given a new role at RR. Usually coming in late to bat as a finisher, Riyan Parag was finally told to bat at the middle order. In his first match at number 4 in three years, he scored 43 runs, but the best was yet to come.

During his 2nd match of the season, he came in early in the 6th over. Trying to rebuild the innings of his team, he scored 26 off 26 at the start. He did get a fifty partnership with R. Ashwin, but changed gears in the 14 overs. 

What followed was clean hitting from the Assamese batter, as he scored 58 in the next 19 balls. In the final over of the innings, he hit Anrich Nortje for 25 runs, with two sixes and three boundaries. He finished the innings with 84* on the board.

Many fans were in awe of Riyan Parag’s incredible innings. They commended how well he played and many called it a world class knock. Some made memes on how he finally gave the perfect reply to his haters. Some fans referenced how he likes Andrew Tate, the controversial online personality.

Parag’s exploits against Delhi Capitals fetched him four awards, including Man of the Match. His captain, Sanju Samson, claimed the 22-year old had something to offer to Indian cricket for the future as well.
