Virat Kohli is one of the most popular cricketers in the world. Fans across the world are fanatic of the batter’s incredible performances in the international circuit and the IPL. With such popularity, there’s only one city that surpasses others when it comes to loving Kohli.
Ever since joining Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008 in the inaugural IPL, Kohli has been loved by the residents of the city. Each IPL, the Chinnaswamy Stadium is at its loudest when Kohli walks on to bat. And at times it is loud even when he isn’t playing.
During the recent Women’s Premier League match between RCB and Gujarat Giants at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the crowd started chanting his name out of nowhere. Even with the IPL over a month away, many fans couldn’t wait to start shouting out his name.
Suresh Raina hopes Virat Kohli can soon win the IPL
Recently, Suresh Raina was interviewed by Times of India ahead of the 2024 Indian Veteran’s Premier League. In the interview, Raina admitted that he wanted to see Royal Challengers Bangalore and Virat Kohli win the IPL.
I wish Virat Kohli and RCB lift the trophy. It is long overdue now, CSK won it last season too but this year I hope that the team who has never lifted the trophy should finally add one to their trophy cabinet. Virat has worked really hard and I think he deserves to win this time.Suresh Raina to Times of India
Raina’s old team, Chennai Super Kings, and RCB have been rivals thanks to their geographical proximity to each other. Even the Ranji teams and Indian Super League teams which represent these areas share this rivalry.
The two sides have faced each other 31 times in the span of 13 IPLs, with CSK winning 20, RCB winning 10 and one draw. CSK and RCB even faced each other in the 2011 IPL finals, where Chennai won their 2nd IPL title.
