Rohit Sharma has not managed a win in his last three home Tests as a captain, losing two and drawing one.

Rohit Sharma was appointed Test captain back in early 2022, after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role. Although he was not interested in the role, then BCCI President Sourav Ganguly requested Sharma to become Test captain. 

Now Sharma has captained 12 Tests for India, missing overseas tours like the one of England and Bangladesh due to Injury. Although he has won six Tests, he’s failed to win the last three Tests played at home. This run began against Australia, when India lost the third Test and drew the final Test.

Now he’s become the first Indian captain to lose a Test at home despite having a lead of more than 100. In the first Test against England, India managed to get a lead of 190 in the first innings, but England still ended up winning the game as they set up a huge target and bowled out India. 

Fans call out poor captaincy of Rohit Sharma 

When India lost the Test against England, many fans were quick to call out the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, with many believing his captaincy was timid and defensive. Some called him clueless and were furious India lost the Test at home despite having the massive lead.

India’s next Test will be on the 2nd of February and will be played in Vizag. India have dealt a huge blow as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been ruled out of the match due to injuries. In their place, BCCI have called up Sarfaraz Khan. Saurabh Kumar and Washington Sundar have also been called up. England finally get the services of Shoab Bashir, who was unable to enter India due to a visa delay.
