On April 1st, Mumbai Indians played their first match at the Wankhede Stadium in the 2024 IPL. They hosted Rajasthan Royals, and ended up losing by six wickets, much to the dismay of fans who wanted the team to win their first match of the season.
At the start of the match, the fans booed Hardik Pandya because he became the new Mumbai Indians captain. What followed was a terrible batting performance, which saw MI manage only 125 runs in 120 balls. RR took no time in chasing it down and winning the game.
After the match, a fan revealed that the Wankhede Stadium security stopped some fans from bringing posters of their former captain, Rohit Sharma. In a video uploaded by a fan, he was seen setting aside his poster of Sharma alongside posters of other fans.
