“Proving he’s evergreen!”- Twitter is disheartened as Shikhar Dhawan misses century; India post a huge 309 against Windies

After winning the series in England, Team India faced West Indies on Friday, July 22 at the Queen’s Park Oval. India was asked to bat first and they set up a huge target of 309 for the Windies.
India started well with the 119-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill for the first wicket. Shikhar Dhawan, who has made a comeback to the international side, has missed just three runs to complete his century.
Gill on the other hand, was the first to being dismissed when he tried stealing an easy run when offered, but he instead jogged towards the bowlers’ end and Nicholas Pooran picked it up and in a suave motion, hit the bullseye at the bowler’s end. Gill was sent back at 64 runs off 53 runs.
Meanwhile, Dhawan, when he endeavoured to chase a full and offside off, but instead cut it and Shamarth Brook dived to his right and plucked it out of thin air. Dhawan had scored 97 runs off just 99 balls with 10 boundaries and three sixes.
Shreyas Iyer played a quick 54 runs off 57 balls with five fours and two sixes. But, Gudakesh Motie’s ball took some flight and served it on off stump. Iyer looked to go inside-out over the extra cover but didn’t get the elevation and Nicholas Pooran was there again to catch the ball. He jumped up and stuck out the right hand and grabbed it.
Deepak Hooda scored 27 runs off 32 balls while Axar Patel too contributed 21 runs off 21 balls. In the end, India were able to score 308/7 in their alloted 50 overs.
