Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan posted a cryptic tweet on Twitter after India’s seven-wicket victory over West Indies in the third T20I on Tuesday (August 8) at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. He tweeted it after India’s stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya smashed a six and eventually denied Tilak Varma to score his back-to-back half-century.
In the 18th over, India needed just two runs and Varma was at 49*. The watchers of the game thought Pandya would give Varma the strike to get him to complete his one run. But instead, Pandya finished India’s innings with a six.
After this incident, Pandya faced the wrath of the fans. Some former cricketers turned pundits also questioned Pandya’s move as a captain.
And now, Irfan Pathan on Twitter wrote: “Mushkil kaam aap karo, Asaan kaam mein Kar leta hoo. Suna Suna Sa lagta hain… (You do the difficult work, I will do the easy work. It seems like heard before….).”

Fans felt that Irfan Pathan took an indirect dig at Hardik Pandya for intentionally not letting Tilak Varma score his half-century. Some of them pointed out how Pandya gave Arshdeep Singh just one over during the powerplay but gave himself three overs before Arshdeep. Due to this incident, fans now started tagging Pandya as the most ‘selfish‘ captain in the history of Indian cricket.
Here are the reactions:
Talking about the match, India saved themselves from a series defeat after winning the third T20I by seven wickets. West Indies scored 159 runs while batting first and with the help of Suryakumar Yadav‘s 83 and Tilak Varma’s 49*, India chased down the target in 17.5 overs. The next T20I will be played on Saturday (August 9) at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida, USA.
