In what has come as terrible news for fans, the BCCI has decided to scrap the concept of E-tickets for the 2023 ODI World Cup. The quadrennial showpiece is set to kick off on 5th October 2023 with a match between last year’s finalists, England and New Zealand.

With this massive setback, spectators will now have to possess a physical ticket to get entry to all World Cup venues across the country. BCCI will be setting up seven to eight centers around the stadiums where physical tickets will be available.

Jay Shah said, “We can’t use e-tickets this time around but will ensure to have physical tickets redemption at 7-8 centers well in advance. But the physical ticket needs to be retained. It will get difficult to manage e-tickets at high-capacity venues like Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Our plan is to start using e-tickets more in bilaterals first and then take it to multi-nation events like the World Cup.”

Fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions on BCCI’s latest move about the 2023 ODI World Cup. The decision of making physical tickets mandatory has not sat well with the fans. Take a look at some of the reactions.

Tickets for matches can be bought online but entry would only be allowed after a physical ticket is presented. Jay Shah says that this would ensure no duplication of tickets and a ‘better experience’ for the fans. The fans, however, completely disagree with that and have already started questioning the management of such a large-scale event as the ODI World Cup.
