One of the concerns for India before the 2023 ODI World Cup was Suryakumar Yadav‘s form in the ODI. But he was able to shut his critics by slamming back-to-back ODI fifties in the series against Australia. On Sunday (September 24), Suryakumar blasted his second half-century of the series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. After Shubman Gill‘s and Shreyas Iyer’s centuries, Suryakumar walked onto the field and did not disappoint the fans at all. Fans were rather bemused by Suryakumar’s unorthodox stroke plays which reminded them of his breathtaking T20I shots.

In the previous match in Mohali, Suryakumar slammed his first ODI fifty of 2023 after coming out to bat at number six position. At one point in the match, Suryakumar even sent four back-to-back balls over the boundary off Cameron Green‘s deliveries. Earlier this year, the Mumbai Indians batter registered an unwanted record when he got out for three consecutive golden ducks.

Fans in awe after watching Suryakumar Yadav’s breathtaking half-century
Fans and even the former cricketers wasted no time lavishing huge praise on Suryakumar Yadav not because of his knock but because he is adjusting to the ODI format. India may use him as a finisher in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

India reached a formidable total of 399/5 in their allotted 50 overs. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer slammed 104 and 105 runs respectively. KL Rahul hammered his half-century (52 runs), while Ishan Kishan contributed 31 runs.
Australia have started their batting and have scored 56 runs for the loss of two wickets. Due to rain, the match has been suspended.
