“Come back from the airport”- Fans react as Netherlands’ victory over South Africa helps Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup

In match no 40 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, the Netherlands played South Africa in one of the most important matches. The South Africans needed to win to qualify for the super 4 whereas the Netherlands had no chance of qualification.
The South African captain won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Adelaide Oval. The Dutch openers started well to put on a 50+ run partnership as the first wicket fell on 58 with Stephan Myburgh contributing 37. The hero of the last match Max O’Dowd was the next to go for his 29 of 31 as Collin Ackerman and Tom Cooper built the innings further.
Cooper scored a valuable 35 of just 19 deliveries as Colin showed some flashes of destruction with his 41 of 26 balls. Captain Scott Edward remained not out for his 12 as the South African bowlers took a total of just 4 wickets with a target of 158 on the board. In the end, it was a decent batting performance by the Netherlands against such a strong bowling line.
South Africans didn’t have the best of starts as none of their players were able to build a partnership. Wickets kept on falling at regular intervals thanks to Brandon Glover for his 3 of just 9 in 2 overs. The highest scorer for South Africa was Rilee Rossouw with 25. A great bowling performance by the Dutch as they restricted Africa to 145 for 8.
Not many expected the Netherlands to beat South Africa who was being considered a favorite for the trophy after their win against the mighty Indian team. The Netherlands will be banking upon Pakistan to win against Bangladesh to make sure they hold onto the fourth position in order to avoid playoffs in the next tournament.
