India batter Shreyas Iyer slammed a stunning century during the second ODI against Australia at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday (September 24). This was his third ODI ton and first the first one since returning from injury.
Iyer took 86 balls to reach the three-figure mark. But before he could maul the Aussie bowlers more, Sean Abbott ended his innings with a catch by Matthew Short on the fifth ball of the 31st over. Iyer departed after a well-made 104 runs from 90 balls which also consisted of six boundaries and four maximums and he batted at a strike rate of 107.22.
Iyer and Shubman Gill batted for a long time, stitching a 200-run stand between them. On the flat Indore pitch, Gill also blasted his century- his fifth one in ODIs this year. His and Iyer’s knocks ensured India to post a massive total of 399/5 in their 50 overs.

Talking about the match, Apart from Shreyas Iyer’s and Shubman Gill’s centuries, Suryakumar Yadav started feasting on Aussie bowlers. From 37 balls, SKY scored an unbeaten 72 runs which also included six boundaries and the same number of sixes and he batted at a strike rate of 194.59.
Stand-in skipper KL Rahul scored 52 runs from 38 balls, while Ishan Kishan got out after an 18-ball 31 runs. India are already leading by 1-0 in the three-match ODI series. Though the Indore pitch is flat, Aussie batters will feel the pressure due to the massive runs and may lose the match, and simultaneously the series.
