The target of 345 looks tough for Pakistan. After the bowlers were smacked for fours and sixes by the Sri Lankan batters, social media started flooding with posts mocking the hyped bowling department of Pakistan. Now all eyes will be on the Babar Azam-led batting unit on how well they fight and show the intent to win the match on Tuesday (October 10) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The first centurion of the match was Kusal Mendis who hammered the fastest century by a Sri Lankan batter, off 65 balls, before getting out for 122 runs off 77 balls. Then Sadeera Samarawickrama was applauded for his century knock, 108 off 89, also consisting of 11 fours and two sixes.

Ahead of the tournament, Pakistan’s bowling unit was considered as their strongest department as it has the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali. But after Sri Lankan batters feasted on them with their stroke plays, Pakistan ended up getting a target of 345 runs.

Shaheen Afridi bowled the most expensive spells as he conceded 66 runs in nine overs for one wicket, at an economy rate of 7.33. Hasan Ali scalped the most wickets for his side but despite his four-fer, he gave away 71 runs in 10 overs. No regular Pakistani bowler could concede runs below 50. Iftikhar Ahmed bowed four overs giving away 22 runs.
