After India lost their first 3 wickets within the powerplay, Ishan Kishan came into bat. This was his first match in the Asia Cup and his first against Pakistan in any format. He came in a pressure situation, as India hadn’t even crossed 50 runs.
After Shubman Gill was bowled by Haris Rauf, all the pressure was on the shoulders of Kishan and Hardik Pandya. The duo then stitched up an important partnership of 138 runs. At the score of 82, Kishan was struggling to run and decided to go all out now.
Haris Rauf came in to bowl and bowled just short of length, which Kishan went to pull. Unfortunately there wasn’t much timing on that shot, as the ball just landed in the hands of Babar Azam, who was fielding at long on.
Kishan finished his innings scoring 82 in 81 balls. The final few balls of his innings, he was batting with a hamstring injury that affected his running. Despite the injury, he continued batting and tried to go all out.
Fans laud Ishan Kishan for his 82
Coming into a pressure situation, many fans were scared the match might not end well for India. Despite being 4 wickets down with only 66 runs on the board. What followed was Hardik Pandya holding one end while Ishan Kishan batted with a positive approach.
Many fans were delighted with his innings. Some said they didn’t feel the absence of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, while others were sure he’ll now keep the No. 5 spot for himself after that impressive knock. Despite having a double century in ODIs, many believe this is his best performance in the format.
