Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal have been dropped for the ODI squad. Chahal was a regular part of the ODI team but was then dropped for Kuldeep Yadav, with Jadeja playing as the 2nd spinner.

Along with Chahal, Sanju Samson was dropped. He was a back up middle order batsman and played 10 ODIs in 2022. He played only 2 ODIs in 2023 and was dropped from the Asia Cup squad, travelling to Sri Lanka as a reserve player.

Fans were unhappy with the 2 missing out on the World Cup, with plenty saying they have been robbed of their spots in the squad. Many fans were not happy with Suryakumar Yadav being selected ahead of Samson as well, as Suryakumar has not been performing in the format for a long time.
