Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) qualified for the IPL 2023 final for the second season in a row. The defending champions whacked Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 by 62 runs and face off against Chennai Super Kings in the title clash. A few days back, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had rocked GT on their home turf at the Chepauk to directly qualify for the summit clash. 

With GT qualifying for IPL 2023 final and CSK already there, the tournament has come a full circle. The two teams locked horns at the same venue on March 31 to kick start the 16th edition of the robust IPL. Sunday’s final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad promises to be high voltage.

Friday night’s contest once again saw the man in form Shubman Gill generate heat with a blistering knock (129 off 60). The GT opener, riding on his merry run this season, scored his third century off just 47 balls. It put his team in the driver’s seat. Riding on the strength of Gill’s century, GT posted a mammoth 233/3 in their 20 overs. 

In reply, MI lost two early wickets as Nehal Wadhera and Rohit Sharma fell prey to Mohammed Shami. Cameron Green had to walk back after taking a blow on his elbow. However, Tilak Varma (43 off 14)  and Suryakumar Yadav (61 off 38) brought MI back into the game with their fiery partnership.

All the hard work went to waste as Suryakumar saw his stumps rattled by Mohit Sharma. It went downhill for MI from there as the Rohit Sharma-led team lost four wickets for seven runs. The last batting pair of MI, Jason Behrendorff and Kumar Kartikeya added nine runs before Mohit Sharma struck yet again to seal the deal for his side.

The veteran pacer bagged five wickets while giving away just ten runs in his spell of 2.2 overs. With GT dominating IPL yet again, fans flooded Twitter with memes describing their feelings.
