On the 24th over, Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan tried to take a quick single off Sandeep Lamichhane but ended up making a very costly error. Rizwan was 44 off 49 and played the ball on the off side.
Dipendra Singh Airee brilliantly collected the ball and accurately hit the non-striker’s end where Rizwan was running to. Thinking the ball could hit him, Rizwan leapt up with both feet up in the air. This proved to be a fatal mistake. Airee managed to run out the batter thanks to Rizwan’s mistake. Replays showed Rizwan jumping to avoid the ball, but unfortunately it cost him his wicket.
Fans were quick to joke about the way Rizwan got out cheaply. Some users called it a brain-fade moment while others asked if he was trying to fly. R Ashwin being R Ashwin immediately gave his 2 cents regarding how Rizwan ran himself out. Ashwin thinks the height of the throw caused Rizwan to move like that, especially when Rizwan didn’t have his helmet on.
