After a fiery opening spell by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya was brought into bowl by Captain Rohit Sharma. Bowling to Babar Azam, first ball Babar defended with ease, although Hardik got extra bounce. Next ball he bowled full, outside off which Babar again blocked. Hardik again bowled a ball outside off that Babar blocked with ease. 

Hardik Pandya then produced a ball which would be tough for any batsman to play. He bowled a bit outside off and Babar Azam went to play the line outside off. Thanks to the scrambled seam Hardik bowled, the ball went in between the Pakistan captain’s bat and front foot, hitting the stumps. Babar had to walk back to the pavilion, scoring a measly 10 runs.

Right after the over finished, heavy rain ensued that caused yet another interruption to the match. Pakistan are currently 44/2 in 11 overs, thanks to wickets by Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. Pakistan needs 313 runs off 39 overs, with a required run rate of 8.02. 

If the match does restart, there is a good chance there will be overs reduced with the Duckworth-Lewis Method applied. ESPNcricinfo reports Pakistan’s target will be 200 if it gets reduced to 20 overs. 237 for a 25-over game and 267 for 30 overs. The game can start as late as 11.15pm local time.

After Babar Azam got out toa beautiful delivery by Hardik Pandya, fans were quick to talk about the ball and Babar’s below average performance. In ODIs Babar Azam has played 7 matches against India, but has never scored a half century. His highest was 48 runs in the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup after getting bowled by a beautiful ball by Kuldeep Yadav. 

Fans were mocking Babar after another terrible outing against India, saying he needed minnows like Nepal and Zimbabwe to score runs against. Others called him a dancer as he struggled against Bumrah before he got out.
