On 12th September Rohit Sharma became the 6th Indian to score 10,000 runs. He joined many Indian Icons like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli. What followed after he crossed the landmark is something he would definitely want to forget.
On the first ball of the 16th over, he was facing young left arm spinner, Dunith Wellalage. In his previous two overs he had picked up the wickets of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. Wellalage was getting a good amount of turn off the pitch as well, making it tough for the Indian batsmen.
The first ball of the over, Wellalage was bowling wide off the crease and bowled it a bit short to which Rohit went to play it on the backfoot. Unfortunately the ball kept low and skidded on. The ball missed the bottom of the bat and crashed into the leg stump, getting Rohit out. Rohit had departed after scoring a well made 53 off 48 balls.
Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul are currently batting for India, trying to rebuild the innings after losing 3 wickets in quick succession. Both batsmen are in great firm, with Kishan scoring an impressive 82 against Pakistan in his last innings and KL Rahul coming off of an amazing century against Pakistan as well.
Fans call Rohit Sharma unlucky for getting out to that delivery
Fans were quick to say Rohit was unlucky to get out due to the pitch. After scoring an impressive half-century in 45 balls, he had gotten out due to the ball staying low. Many fans spoke about how times have changed, as Indian batsmen are now struggling against spin instead of pace.
Many fans felt sad as they thought Rohit would score a century as he looked in good touch and his overall approach was positive. Some fans said India needed minnow bowlers like the ones Pakistan had to win the game.
