“Shameful record!”- Fans slam Shivam Mavi for bowling the most expensive over; retains this unwanted record
Shivam Mavi
Fans claim that hadn’t Shivam Mavi gave 30 runs in the 19th over, Kolkata would still have chances to make it to the playoffs. But unfortunately, after being defeated severely by the Lucknow Supergiants on Saturday, May 8 at the MCA Stadium in Pune, Kolkata have been knocked out from the playoffs.
Shivam Mavi has already topped the list of most runs conceded by KKR bowler, and, today, he broke his own record. He holds the second and third position on the same list. In 2018 when Mavi debuted, he had given 29 runs against Delhi Capitals and 28 runs against Rajasthan Royals in an over.
And in this match, LSG’s Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder smacked him for 30 runs. In the 19th over, Stoinis scored three back-to-back sixes and in the fourth ball, gave away his wicket. Jason Holder was the new batsman who then fired his game with two sixes off Shivam Mavi’s same over.
Five sixes or 30 runs were conceded in the over. If it wasn’t for those runs, LSG couldn’t have reached 176 run mark. Kuldeep Yadav in 2019 conceded 27 runs and Umesh Yadav in 2017 gave 26 runs. At the end, LSG bundled out KKR by 75 runs and topped the list on the points-table.
Fans are fuming over KKR’s poor management and Shivam Mavi’s last over, check their reactions:

“They outplayed us in both the departments – batting and bowling. We got off to a bad start in the powerplay and also, we leaked a lot of runs in the death overs. We couldn’t read how it (the pitch) was going to play, and based on that we elected bowling. I thought we could have restricted them to 155-160. They got to a really nice total in the end”.
“We (Myself and McCullum) discuss about chasing, we have this conversation every now and then. I have won a lot of tosses, but it would have been good if I lost those tosses. We are not able to capitalize on the small things. In the middle overs we have been bowling amazing, just that we need to do well in the powerplay and in the death overs. We need to assess that and bounce back. In the next three games, we need to do that,” said Iyer.
